I used a tank of it once. I only tuned with my afc. The stuff does keep knock down. Your car will want to run super rich and if you have been tuning with it
i'm sure you have found that out. My problem with the stuff is it had terrible fuel mileage. I went from 28mpg in mixed driving on 93 octane to about 18-20
mixed driving on E85. I know alot of turbo guys run the stuff.
Yes I started to mod, didn't you?"...

Yes you get more horsepower but you lose gas mileage, mainly because there isn't as much stored energy in E85 and their is in Gasoline. Just thought
I'd throw that out there.

You have to have larger injectors to run it properly.

You have to have larger injectors to run it properly.See I here mixed answers on that Troy, on my scans so far my STFT & LTFT are locking in at 0 or close and the o2s are in the 950s and thats with my stock injectors so thats were I am confused but thats at WOT at idle STFT are 0 to 0.785 but the LTFT are +14.00s so I have been messing with the MAF tables and the PE AFR and I will see what happens

All the conversions I've seen (I've seen alot since I'm in the Ethanol capital of the world
) always have larger injectors.

E85....
It has less energy per volume than Gasoline (although 87 octane has the same energy per volume as 93 octane). This means to get the same HP out of E85 as you do with 93, it requires more fuel. (hence worse mileage and the need for higher flow injectors of anything smaller than a 3.4" pulley I think) E85 is something like 115 octane, so it has great anti-detonation characteristics that allow you to run more boost since it's able to absorb more heat energy before ignition. So you can get higher HP out of it by running more boost which kind of offsets the less energy per volume comparison to gasoline. I think it was Glanzer that was running it, but I don't remember. We've actually had a couple of members on here run E85 pretty successfully.

well your first issue is that your watching your fuel trims on a scanner. get a wide band before you blow it up

Ok so I fixed the LTFT and they are much better I went out tonight racing and killed a moded 05 SER Nissan Altima, 09 CLK500 AMG,09 BMW 645 94 5.0 moded and
some Hondas and shit like that it felt very good and thats with 4 people in the car lol we ran to about 130+ MPH only thing I hate is the gas mileage I
averaged 14.5MPG and thats very shitty lol so I have more tunning to do but yeah it was fun lol

14.5 mph @ 130mph isn't bad. lol. E85 was the goverments answer to our gas problem. Sure it works but you will need more of it and in the end it won't
save any of us any money. Fact is it will probably cost more to run then regular gas. I would save a E85 tune for the track and just run 92 or 93 as a DD.

I told you from the get go your gas mileage was going to suck and yet you're still suprised? As it has been said grain alcohol contains less energy than
gasoline so you need to burn more thus causing your shitty mileage...

The E85 conversion makes sense for only a few reasons.
1. E85 is the ONLY fuel available. 2. You want to run 115 AKI and don't care about the cost. 3. E85 is cheap enough in your area to cover the cost of the lower gas economy AND the larger injectors AND the cost of reprogramming the PCM. None of those apply to me so, I haven't touched the stuff. I only had to cope with E10 being the only thing available. Anyone can be quick on an unlimited budget.

I get shit mileage on E-15 alone to be honest I think E85 is a darn joke. Sure you get a little horsepower but not enough to make up for the shit mileage,
injectors and PCM as Passingpower said.

well, the point of E85 was not to save us money.... it was to decrease our dependance on foriegn oil. E85 is in it's infancy right now, but once they start
using sweet grass or algea instead of corn for the source, then the costs will drop substantially.
I completely support it. I think it is an excellent alternative to burning processed oil. You have to think long term on this one. No short attention spans like the American Public's view on the "war in Iraq". We are in it for the long haul, so we might as well get comfortable.
