Old fart but knows their stuff!! kudo's my friend kudo's Posts: 879 (06/30/09 02:09 AM) GTP World Necessary Contributor Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Tags : None Ok i blew two of my Amps tonight, i put them into protection mode! the first one blew on the way home... just turned off and did not play! i checked the fuse and nothing, it was good! i unpluged the speaker wires and disconected the amp to see if it did anything! no it did not! so i pluged in a different amp... worked great for like 5 minutes then went into protection mode!!! im thinking my sub is causing all of this bullcrap!!!! it started to smell funny latelly and maybe melted something... so how do i test to see if my sub is any good???? and can i replace the amps output circuits??? i blew a 600watt rockford fosgate amp and a 300watt audiobahn amp.... anything you could tell me man???? xp cam,42.5 injectors,105# springs,3.3 pulley,double rollmaster chain, 104 plugs,180t, powerlog,2.5 downpipe with high flow cat thrasher intake,tb spacer,zzp pcm, drilled and slotted rotors,hid headlights and foglight, aeroforce,boose,voltmeter gauge, KYB struts, Eibach springs, GMPP full kit,polly dog bones, stiff engine and tranny mounts, F-body breaks 245/40R18...

Check your ground, make sure its good. if your smelling something you prolly blew your sub man. what kind of sub are you running? now, u have a power fuse and you should have fuses on the amp it self, you checked all of them? and what size are u running? with your system turned off push down on the sub slowly with some pressure, you should hear nothing, yano no scratching or rubbing. I drove past a Ford dealer today.. their sign said 'Zero Interest'.. my thoughts exactly.

Forced inducted kudo's Posts: 11635 (06/30/09 12:43 PM) GTP World Owner/Administrator Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Don't worry about that stuff.................to test a sub or any speaker just get a DMM (Digital Multi Meter) and put it in OHMS and then connect the 2 leads to the + and - of the speaker or sub it should read what ever the ohmage of the speaker is or fairly close. The most major things that causes protection on amps is speaker wires arching on something and grounding out, and over loading the amp with your subs wired for to low of impedance. The sub doesn't make any noise or friction! Troy; i will take my sub to a friend of my he will test it for me! You should also have you friend check the speaker wires to see if they are grounding out anywhere. How are your subs wired in the car? Are they single or dual voice coil?
