I am putting a set of heads on and I don't want to take the rocker arms off and I've come to the understanding that its almost impossible to line up the pushrods and bolt down the heads without removing the rocker arms. I know their 20 bucks from zzp I just didn't know if anyone has attempted this before mark 2001 gtp 2 dr Mods: 3.4, 3.25, 3.1 zzp mps, 16o t-stat, Wizaird CAI, ZZP TB Spacer Autolite 103's, ZZP PCM, 2000 degree coated Pacesetter headers with U bend and Res delete, EGR delete, 1.84 ratio roller rocker arms with 105 lbs springs, retainers and pushrods, Ported supercharger (outlet and inlet) 3 angle valve work, 13.8 quarter mile with a 2.1 60 ft

I am not sure if this is true but it does kind of make sense since all of the force of the valve springs will be pushing on the heads when tightening the bolts. Someone needs to look into that to see if its true. ??? This does not make sense to me, leaving the heads and rockers together will make the head gasket blow? Are you suggesting that when you put on heads they should not be assembled already? When you take the heads off you usually back the rockers off just enough to pull the push rods out, then putting the heads back on you can tighten down the head bolts/studs and then put the push rods in and tighten down the rockers while there is no pressure of the cam on them so you turn the engine over a few times while tightening (if the exhaust valve is opening then you know that the intake has no pressure on it and visa-versa for each cylinder). They are saying that when the heads are removed that rockers and stuff should be removed prior to putting heads back on the car, torque head bolts properly, then put the rockers and push-rods in and start torquing them down one at a time and rotate the motor to take load off each one and then torque it down also and so on and so forth till each rocker is done. I guess its time for some headers then. When i did 1.9's on my gtp i put new bolts on because intense reccomended it, but im sure i could have got away without it. -Jon

You need to work on, if not own, a bunch of different cars and learn the good and the bad from them all. Then, once i saved up enough i bought a 02 monte SS because i needed winter car/beater/ daily driver and something that was an auto. My first choice was a W body cause i liked them so much. The monte gets 24 mpg avg on 87 oct which makes me happy. I work on everything from bikes/atv's/fords/chevys/chryslers and have owned a few mustangs( even classics) and wanted a fun car. The stang really doesnt have all that much done to it, hell i haven even pulled off the tb or valve covers and its a fun fast car, really does well autocrossing too The only thing holding me back from another project Wbody now is space,i still live at home and finally got enough for a down payment and and looking as we speak. So once i buy a house( more of a garage with a house attached) ill be back with another W body, or ill turbo the monte and turn that into a project and buy a 4cyl ranger for a beater. -Jon
